Who uses it?
OLAP Browser is used by managers and analysts that want a simple method for reporting and analyzing their business. It can be used all staff within the organization; from clerk to CEO. However it is most often used by business analysts for greater insight into the performance of the business.
What is it?
A simple to use, yet powerful way to ask and answer questions about your business. It provides point and click access to your corporate data. Various business dimensions and data items can be layered onto the viewing area. Items can be viewed at the summary level or drill down for details. Users can see at a glance how sales are doing under different scenarios. For example users can choose sales broken out by region and product lines with a quarterly comparison.
Where is it installed?
This is a rather unique desktop application as it takes up a small footprint and installs in under a minute. The application reads data from a data cube (OLAP database) and can access both local and server cubes. Typically sever cubes are accessed by direct or remote connection but can also be configured for HTTP access over the internet.
When is it used?
Analysts access this application daily for analysis and quick access to information. On a monthly or quarterly basis this application is routinely used to provide more in-depth analysis on the business; show best selling products, show top performing agents, show customers with sales last year but no sales this year, show sales growth monthly/yearly, etc.
Why is it needed?
OLAP Browser offers a low cost solution for providing staff with the tools they need to examine their data and manage their business more effectively.
How does it fit?
OLAP Browser can be deployed on its own or in conjunction with IQub’s DataMart Builder (see DataMart Builder). OLAP Browser works with data cubes in MS-SQL format (AS, SSAS, and .cub). Both local and server cubes are supported. OLAP Browser can be used for reporting and analysis of your existing data cubes or with cubes developed with our DataMart Builder.
